DOG FOOD BUYING GUIDE

Hill’s Science Diet Sensitive Stomach & Skin is a group of adult-dog foods aimed at digestive and skin support. The useful question is not whether the line is “good,” but which format and recipe fit your dog’s age, size, feeding routine and veterinary guidance.

What Hill’s says this line is designed to support

Current Hill’s product information emphasizes highly digestible recipes with prebiotic fiber, plus vitamin E and omega fatty acids for skin and coat support. The line includes dry, wet, small-bite and small/mini formulas.

Choose by format and dog size

  • Standard dry food: the simplest starting point for most adult dogs.
  • Small Bites: useful when a dog prefers a smaller kibble.
  • Small & Mini: formulated for small dogs.
  • Wet food or stew: useful for dogs that prefer softer food or for mixed feeding.

Who should not use the adult formula

Hill’s does not position the adult Sensitive Stomach & Skin formulas for puppies or pregnant/nursing dogs. If digestive problems are persistent, severe, sudden or accompanied by vomiting, blood, weight loss or poor appetite, contact a veterinarian rather than treating food choice as the diagnosis.

Transition gradually

Hill’s recommends transitioning over about seven days by increasing the new food while decreasing the old food. Follow the instructions on the exact product you buy.
