CAT FOOD BUYING GUIDE
Hill’s Science Diet Urinary & Hairball Control is an adult-cat food line designed to support urinary health while using fiber to help reduce hairballs. It is an over-the-counter Science Diet product, not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis or a prescription urinary diet when one is required.

What Hill’s says it supports
Current Hill’s information says the formula supports urinary health through controlled mineral content and uses natural fiber to help reduce hairballs. Wet versions also add moisture to the diet, which some cat owners may prefer.
Important: urinary symptoms are not a shopping problem
Straining to urinate, repeated trips to the litter box with little or no urine, crying while urinating, blood in urine or sudden inappropriate urination can require prompt veterinary attention. A male cat unable to urinate can be an emergency.
Who the adult formula is for
Hill’s positions this line for adult cats, including cats 1–6 years old in the product information reviewed. It is not positioned for kittens or pregnant/nursing cats.
Dry vs wet
- Dry: convenient for measured daily feeding.
- Wet or stew: adds dietary moisture and may be more appealing to some cats.
- Mixed feeding: can work, but total calories from both formats still need to be counted.
